I had a choice of leaving it complete or cutting it down. I opted for down. A little more would have been too much a little less looked worse. But I did get the bg better?

Brian, thank you. That delicate blue is very attractive.
I would 'echo' Manfred and additionally, offer advice I often give, which is to be more ruthless with the crop.
Autumn has started here in the UK and I am turning away from bugs and I'm hunting now for fungi.
The attached image is of a Porcelain fungus (Oudemansiella mucida), It is not uncommon here, but I have not seen it for some years, and it has pleased me greatly to see it this year. I hope it pleases you on the occasion of your birthday
Do you have any fungi in your garden?

There are other solutions to consider. I would have likely cropped off that whole stem, either physically before the shot or in post. Originally Posted by JBW
