Now, that is vibrant colour!
I have not heard of this canyon. What's it like looking the other way. I ask because it seems as if it just rises out of relatively flat land beyond its end, or am I not taking account of the lake?
It really does look like it's been gouged out of the landscape in the ice age. Very deceptive in that until you realise that those are trees clinging on to the scree on the sides of the canyon, you don't get the full impression of scale. Nice shot.
Very nice and colorful Does it need rotating anticlock wise a bit ?

It sort of just peters out in that direction too, Donald; the lighting was not great in the other direction so I have limited shots in that direction. This is not a water carved canyon, but one of unknown origin. Most theories suggest some form of localized volcanic uplifting to create it. It's quite short (2 km long) and there is no significant water flow on the bottom; i.e. no river or stream. The rocks on the bottom are due to boulders spalling off the sides of the cliff and are not at all rounded like river rocks.
I like the vibrance of the colours and the textures of the rocks here, not that you have been short on others...looks like a nice passage of something from a long time ago. Interesting formation...
