Approaching Storm at Dusk, Port Fairy, Victoria

I had just finished putting up my tent in the howling wind, when I noticed this storm approaching. Needless to say the tent was flattened and torn and the next 4 nights at the Port Fairy Folk Festival were uncomfortable, but I survived.

Beautiful shot but nasty...Port Fairy...will that be along the Geelong stretch? How long did you stay? 'Use to have a place along that stretch at Kenneth River when it was still quieter. The water looks nasty too...how did you survive? Where did you stay?

This is definitely a shot that needs to be seen big, in lieu of LyteBox, try this link

Good shot Martin, I can almost feel the wind (but not as much as you did!)

Izzie, Port Fairy is between Portland and Warrnambool along the Coast Road .. quite a way west of Geelong. My accommodation was a flimsy nylon tent in the caravan park just behind where this photo was taken. We were there for 5 nights and most of the damage was done in the hours after this photo was taken, i.e. During Night No. 1 ... thankfully 30 metres of duct tape helped put things back together as a temporary fix!

Excellent capture, glad you survived the tent trauma. We stayed at Port Fairy in 2010 (not in a tent though) and we just missed the folk festival but we caught up with Vin Garbutt in the UK Approaching Storm at Dusk, Port Fairy, Victoria

Duct Tape and WD40 -- don't leave home without it! I have about 4 rolls of duct tape in the equipment section of my SUV hiding from Bill. And a can of WD40.
