    Old Boathouse in the fall

This image of an old boathouse was taken across the Big East River, in Huntsville, Canada. What struck me was how the old structure fit in so nicely among the trees on the river bank. The reflection of the trees in the water is what makes this image for me. There are a few fall colours in the shot to brighten things up a touch.

That's an awesome shot, Manfred. Nicely seen and captured. It would have been nice if the owners of the boat would have decided to take a cruise for a few minutes.

Sadly that didn't happen. I would try toning down the stark white of the boat to a dark brown perhaps (in pp, I don't carry paint cans around in my camera bag). I suppose it depends on whether one wants to stick rigidly to what's there or use a little creative licence.

In any event, beautiful tranquil scene.

It is a nice scene Manfred, one which, if you were there for several days, might be interesting to shoot at the same time each day to note how the currently green trees 'turn' as time progresses.

I cannot see the aperture used (in EXIF), the reason I was interested in that is because there's no real detail in the foliage in the left half of the frame, whereas the right half is fine; nice'n'sharp.

This shot wouldn't make it without the reflections, otherwise the house would be lost in the colors. Nicely captured.

Handheld shot taken with a wide open lens (f/2 .8) at 1/160th ISO 1600 using a 160mm focal length. Taken in the late afternoon shortly after 19:00; about 15 minutes before sunset (although it was heavily overcast, so it was quite dark).

I'll have a closer look at this when I get home.

It's the colours in the trees and the reflection that just reach out and grab your (my) attention. Excellent.

Ah, OK, it will be a lack of DoF issue then

That's more like it. Autumn colours are beginning to show and you have caught them nicely here. Bit of a blue cast (boat house roof) but I'm sure you will see that once you are back on the desk top. Very nice image.
