Turtle Bliss
Meet Shelly. She is a 5 year old Yellow bellied Slider. This shot was taken during her daily trek around the yard.

Re: Turtle Bliss
Hi Jessica,
You have the eyes sharp, which is good - and there's nothing actually in front of Shelley's face.
The EXIF shows Nikon D5200, lens at 52mm, f/5.6, ISO 250 and shutter speed 1/400s.
It sounds like you have an opportunity to try a re-shoot, might I suggest a few ideas to improve it, as a photograph?
Ideally you need more Depth of Field, so we can have the eyes and the end of her nose sharp - I'd suggest f/16.
To compensate for that, assuming you cannot get more light on her, you'll need to raise the ISO to say, 1000 and possibly lower the shutter speed, to say 1/200s, or you could use ISO 500 and 1/100s if she's not a fast mover and you can keep the camera steady.
When shooting again, try to get an even more unobstructed view of her, without the grasses.
Good luck, Dave

Re: Turtle Bliss
Nice shot, I like it. As Dave says there are several ways to get a good exposure while changing some of the other perimeters. I'm just starting to think this way after I take the initial image.
