    Ugly bug

This is kind of funny. So I'm working on my macro skills which are few at the moment. This is only my second bug shot but I did learn something while processing this image.

Rule #1 when shooting bugs. Try not to shoot bugs that are just plain ugly and without color .

    Another lesson learned.....great.

Pill bugs are a good first subject. They are not colorful, but they are slow :-)

    Hi Dave,

I notice that you are only posting images 700 px wide on TinyPic.

I realise that you've only been a member while the LyteBox feature was broken.

However, you can upload images to TinyPic up to 1600px wide (or 1000 px in height).
Now the LyteBox feature is fixed, we can click on the image and see the bigger version very easily.

Many of your shots would benefit from being bigger, so we can see more detail - even if it is ugly and colourless

That's good Jim because I'm not to swift either.

Well you certainly made an ugly looking pill bug colourful with its background...

actually there are lots of colours in that bug. The trick is to pull them out.

    Ugly bug
this was done in Gimp with levels, curves, nl filter, unsharpen mask and a little gaussian blurring. There is not a lot of difference but it does bring out a bit more colour?
