    Nicely done! I think the composition and framing are spot on, and the background is simple enough and blurred enough to give good separation from the flower. All in all, a very attractive image.

    Some of my first flower shots were of this type. This shot has been a long time in the making. A better skill set, camera and pp software has made quite a difference.

    I won't disagree. I have been trying to apply the critiques and they do make for a better shot.

    You've got this just right, Brian. I love the contrast with the background in terms of colour, shading, depth of field while the background shapes echo the shapes in the flower. Well thought out and executed and needs to go on a wall somewhere. (I'm not calling it a weed, which is defined as an unwanted plant growing in the wrong place.)

    Yep, like everyone has said - That works. There's a certain subtlety to it that would have been very easy to ruin in post processing by over application of vibrancy and/or saturation, or contrast. As it is, it conveys a sense of peace and calm.
