Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar

Hi. I recently travelled to São João Del Rei and Tiradentes, two historical cities in the state of Minas Gerais. These cities played a major hole in Brazil´s History, by both the huge ammount of gold that they produced (Minas Gerais means "General Mines") and by giving birth to Tiradentes, a leader that started brazilian movement towards independence from the crown (Portugal).

There are many churches in the town, most of them full of artistic work, mainly sculptures in wood and covered with gold. They estimate this church, alone, has about 300 kg (~660 pounds) of gold applied over the sculpted altairs.

This is the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, built on early 18th century (1721).

That's an interesting an very nice series Otavio. The interior decoration, particularly in and around the Apse and Alter, is something to behold.

Thank you, that's interesting, I imagined they'd be the same dates all over the catholic world. I just read some more about NS de Aparecida, clearly no connection with the other. By coincidence (?) - if such a thing exists, both patrons of their respective countries.

Hi, Vic. All shot handheld, with VR on. I used my kit lens (18-55, my widest aperture) mounted on my D5200. I shot fully wide open, trying to balance between lowest ISO x Highest speed I could get. Image #5 was the hardest one to get (1/8s x ISO 6400).

I have included the Exif, as requested, above each image.

Very nice Otávio,

My only thoughts were along the lines John voiced in post #2, but I appreciate the difficulty (impossibility?) in achieving it.

They look super filling the screen in LyteBox.

While you haven't corrected the perspective (which is usually something I suggest), these all look good/natural as they are and any attempt at correction would lose so much off the angle of view, it would not be worth the sacrifice.
