Wow! More spectacular images, Jim. The positioning and composition on the beetle, spider, and hover fly are really special. And the detail is unbelievable, especially on the bee and the hover fly.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Nothing more to be said really. This is specialised area into which I have never ventured and you, Jim, have really mastered it. Spectacular images.

I'd love to be able to achieve images like this - they make me want to try harder.

    Thanks for the comments.
Rick,I've been working with composition more than just "getting the shot" lately.A little more difficult, but it's working out nicely.
Kit,for some real inspiration check out this site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lordv/
I hope to reach that level one day.

They, too, are outstanding. But you do yourself an injustice.

Thanks,Colin.I'm working with a Sigma 150.The Hover Fly shot was done with the 150 and a 36mm tube.Looks like there may be an MPE-65 in my future.

I'm with Donald: those are great images, but if anyone had forwarded one to me and told me it was one of yours, I would have accepted it without a second thought.

    Cheers,
    Rick

    Brilliant Jim

    (and yes, you have improved)

I'm gonna have to get organised and see if I can get a bit closer to this than my current level of snapshots with on-camera flash.

    Cheers,

I so much admire that guys work, but he has a set-up I can only dream of. But, that's also an excuse in a way. My main problem is focus - dodgy eyes make auto-focus the only real option and it tends to be a bit hit and miss.

Great images! I used to see a lot of excellent stuff like this done by Dr. Deepak Rao of Bangalore, India. He was extremely helpful when I first started macro shooting and we corresponded by email. I have not seen his work posted on any forum lately.
