    Far from the Madding Crowd

I'm home now from our Beach Holiday, so starting to have a proper look at the images, rather than just on the iPad.
    Im hoping there's some keepers.

This is taken at a lake, part of the Noosa river system, (about 30 minutes drive from 'Busy Beach') favoured by campers and Sailboarders.
My hubby didn't take all his sailboard gear on the plane! :roll eyes:...but he likes to go and watch and chat to the locals at the venue nonetheless...

Nice peaceful scene Kay, well seen and captured.

So you've been up our way - I think at any given time, there are more Victorians at Noosa than banana benders !

I'd love to be there with a camera in one hand and a fishing rod in the other...

Thanks Gentlemen, for your kind comments, it is a lovely spot here.
Noosa itself, was busier this year in this school holiday time, than in recent memory.
We've decided its time for me to try & grab some 'long service leave' & avoid school holiday breaks ( sorry other countries, but hey we have poisonous spiders & snakes & man eating sharks, so deserve a bit of extra time off)

Good subject, Kay. I'm just wondering about the sky -it is dark in the middle and light on the edges. Did you use a polariser?

Nicely composed and captured Kay. Very reminiscent of childhood for me when I was an army brat and we used frequent the Austrian lakes.

Not crying Izzie, all is good
Thanks Greg & John and yes a polariser was used, I see what you mean, the sun down on the left maybe gives it a bit of brightness off centre.

Re: Far from the Madding Crowd

    Kay,

Just in case you're not aware: When using a polarizer on a wide angle lens such as in this situation, you'll likely produce the unwanted effect in the sky and thus in the reflection of the sky in water. The solution is to use the polarizer on a focal length of about 35mm or longer when photographing the sky or its reflection or to use it on any focal length if the scene doesn't include the sky or its reflection.

I still think the scene is a keeper as is (though not an award-winner) because of the nice composition and mood. The sky and reflection could be corrected if you have the required post-processing skills and patience to apply them.

Thankyou Binnur & thanks Mike for the tips, I will definitely have a go with this and take note when live again with wide angle & polarise.
