    Waiting

Today, while my wife was in physical therapy, I noticed this gentleman sitting on the corner. I struck up a conversation and asked if I could take a few shots, he agreed. C & C always.

Good gritty image Dean, I think you've captured this guy's personality to some extent. It was decent of him to pose..

Your mono treatment is excellent too.

    Nice shot, Dean

And i applaud your graciousness and boldness in developing a dialogue and asking permission. I confess I usually pretend I'm looking at something else and the "sneak" the shot. You've raised the bar for me a bit.

I cannot for the life of me, talk to anyone in the street just like that...and take a shot. You are bold enough and got a good one. Did you give him some gratis money to tide him over a bit?

A good and gritty photo. It was nice that you asked for permission, I (too) confess to being less discreet.

    Cracker of a shot Dean,
For me the sign is to bright, It would be nice to look at the image, see his face, engage with those eyes and then let the sign finish the story.

Thanks all for viewing and your comments.

    Kevin,
I'm not sure if it is graciousness and boldness. This goes back to my journalism days when you did not give an editor a photo without the name of the person and the background story. Just can't seem to break the habit. Also, a little gallows humor here: I live in a state where people are shot for blowing their horn when someone cuts them off in traffic or is beaten to death for putting a ding in a car door. "Sneaking" photos, hmmm... Sometimes I do shoot first and then approach the person.

    Izzie,
Again, it's not so much boldness as something I'm comfortable with. I have found most of the time people will not be disturbed about having a photo taken.

    Re: Waiting

The sign is a bit bright but it is essential to the story. It's a good and thought provoking shot. Makes you wonder what his back story is.
