    Weekend Car Cruises

Out in my corner of the world, every weekend Friday through Sunday during the summer, car enthusiasts come out in droves to show off their wheels down at an old club on the beach. Everything from Minis to Lamborghini's are the norm. These are a few shots from Captree State Park and Oak Beach Inn in Babylon, NY.

I've been trying to go for the more creative route and get in close to get the more overlooked parts of the car. I've gotten bored of taking the standard 3/4 view shots.

Very nice shots. You are well on your way to finding your theme with these images. You could also try a little HDR to add a little variety to what are already pretty dynamic shots.

Another great series Paul, well done.

Last year, I had some trouble finding the compositions close up like this when I tried my hand at it. You make it look easy, when I know it isn't!

I wonder if I have evolved since then? I should have another go.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Dave.

Basically, you just have to work at it and find which angles work best. There has been alot of trial and error on my part. I used the 50mm f/1.8 lens for all of the shots in the last post. I found that the 17-40 is ok when you want to do some standard 3/4 pictures with a deep DOF, but when you use a prime lens, such as the 50 mm, it forces you to get creative; especially in in-tight spaces.

You should do it again and think of lines, curves and specific parts of a car. Once you make that decision, figure out what you want in focus and what you want out of focus if it applies.

This will probably be the last additions to my car gallery for a bit so I can find other events/areas to photograph.

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for reminding me, after your reply above, I did have a go at PP'ing a few shots I took last year, but I think PAD distracted me from publishing, I hope you don't mind me mixing 3 of mine in with yours.

    How'd I do?
The event is on again next weekend here (White Waltham 14-15 August and cars)

I think your latest are great, my favourites are #1, #3 and #6.

    Cheers,
