So what will I be looking to change in the camera,
I am guessing making sure the white balance is correct.
Sad to say something I have never touched.

Ethan - my comment has nothing to do with the white balance point, but rather your exposure. When I look at an image that has values are are pure black (tires) and likely pure white (helmet), the image should not look muddy. When I look at the histogram, the values are shifted to the left side, this indicates an under exposure issue in your capture.



Your in-camera histogram is probably the most important tool you have in getting a correct exposure.

Aha, yes. Thank you for that reminder. It is ages since I took any serious photos. Now that you say that I remember what I read somewhere. Shoot to the right. And I do remember trying to work out how do that.

And to clarify, Ethan is the driver of this car, I am Robin, the photographer. Bit confusing I know, but I did it that way to make it easy for me to go back and find the photo. And the original.
