Ethan - my comment has nothing to do with the white balance point, but rather your exposure. When I look at an image that has values are are pure black (tires) and likely pure white (helmet), the image should not look muddy. When I look at the histogram, the values are shifted to the left side, this indicates an under exposure issue in your capture.
Your in-camera histogram is probably the most important tool you have in getting a correct exposure.
