A week too late
I headed out to the Hog's Back Locks on the Rideau Canal, inspired by the images that Andre (Round Tuit) had posted.
Rideau Canal at Hog's Back
Dave Humphries had pointed out that he remembered some shots of mine taken at that location in the past, so I headed out there just after sunrise this morning...
Only to find that the canal had been drained to make it ready for the winter. The fall leaves were still nice enough, but the beautiful expanse of water was now mostly mud with a few navigation buoys sitting in it. Well, I'm not someone that backs away from a challenge so I tried to make it work. By concentrating on the church in the background (St John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine), I tried to draw the viewer's attention away from the less attractive foreground.

I'm afraid the empty canal still distracts Manfred, I would crop most of it as the church, the sky and lovely colored trees make a nice image anyway

Yes, maybe crop the bottom and left side so that person in the bottom right corner remains visible?
