    Barn Bells

    Barn Bells

It's been a while since I posted anything... life has been getting in the way. However, I finally found some time for working on some more pictures at my grandparent's farm. Any thoughts on this one?
    Thanks,
    Kristy

Nice composition, would benefit more if lights and darks were emphasized more.

Very nice. I like the monochromatic tone. Wish the second bell could have been a little sharper.

Thanks for commenting, John and Dean. I fiddled with it a little more... is this closer to what you were thinking, John? Dean, I thought the exact same thing when I got home and uploaded this one! In fact, I wish I had a more of the large bell in focus as well as the small one. In other words, I should have used a deeper depth of field.

I do like your picture. I would just like a wider view, that is to the right of the ropes, just a touch not much.

I like the edit better, Kristy...I can see this better than trying to squeeze my eyes then look again at the first one. There is definitely a lot improvement.

I much prefer the first version of this image. The light is, in my opinion, much nicer and more in keeping with the mood of the picture. Only thing I would have looked for is a slightly deeper depth-of-field, so that both the front ropes and the bell were properly in focus. As it is, the bell is just starting to go out of focus.

I agree with a little more light but I think the edit added a little too much.

Donald has already said exactly what I was thinking.

I love the different opinions on this one! Thanks to all of you for commenting. Maybe I'll end up with a final edit somewhere in the middle...... Or maybe I'll reshoot the same scene and try it all over again, using a deeper depth of field.

Funny you would mention this, because I cropped just a bit off that side to the right of the ropes, as I didn't think it added much to the image. But now that you mention it, perhaps a little more breathing room would be nice... I'll revisit this. Thanks for commenting!
