    Looking Glass Waterfall

I texted my friend from childhood to let her know about the little restaurant my wife and I had settled into for lunch. She let me know that we were only minutes away from this waterfall located in North Carolina's Pisgah National Forest. So off we went. It was very exciting to see it because I had been there as a small child with my family about 55 years ago. We know my friend and her mother joined us on that trip for a day, so it's very possible that she and I saw this waterfall together. We were both living in Miami, Florida at the time. Life sometimes takes us on such interesting paths!

Great B&W. It looks so peaceful. I do believe it would not be so had it been in colour. Just a thought.
    Cheers Ole

Agree with Ole (+1). I like the intro story too plus the fact that you did not use silky smooth milky water movement here. The mists at the bottom of the fall is an added bonus too in that I can feel the strength of the fall itself as I stare more.

We're trodding the same soil, Mike. I was there yesterday. Hadn't been there for 30 years or so. Nice shot.

    Thanks, everyone!

Izzie: I use milky water on cascades (as opposed to waterfalls) and on very small waterfalls to depict the tranquility of the falling water. I stop the action of the water of larger waterfalls to indicate the power of the water.

I hope you're having a good time and that you got a better photo of Sliding Rock than I did. (I won't be showing mine here.) It was on that trip about 55 years ago that I repeatedly went down Sliding Rock.

Great composition and PP work Mike, your shutter speed also seems to work very nice for the waterfall
