    Pattterns in a Waterfall

This scene is approximantely the lower third of the 404-feet (150-meters) tall Hickory Nut Falls, which is located in North Carolina's Chimney Rock State Park. I was attracted to the patterns of water and surprised to realize that they constantly changed. They changed so rapidly that I captured about 20 images at 3 frames per second and decided upon this image once I reviewed them on my computer.

Nice shot, Mike. Most large falls that I've seen change constantly but in a repeating pattern. It is fascinating to study.

Water treatment is a difficult subject when it comes to shooting, but this one is really beautiful. I love it.

Really interesting to see a waterfall processed this way, terrific result.

How about a triptych showing the three most varied Mike?

    Nicely processed, never-the-less.

That would work if there had been three sets of patterns that were really appealing to me. This one is so much more interesting than any of the others that all of the others met their demise with the Delete key.

Very nice Mike, I often choose which image of a landscape I'm going to use based on the pattern in the water (if it contains water)

A very nice scene and very well captured, Mike. Just like Dave, I also think it would be interesting to see the three most varied shots.

Very nice job, as usually expected from you.

    Regards,

Just right Mike. Not too blurred, not too static in the water. Just enough detail in the shadows. Well captured and very nicely processed.

I like this shot. Shows movement without too much blurring.

    Re: Pattterns in a Waterfall

It was just the other day that I was watching misty rain falling on a clean car hood until the mist
accumulated into drops and trailed off the car.

Many times I wiped the hood dry and watching the process repeated with different patterns every time.
The chaos theory in action I mused to myself.
