Dave is one of my kindest critics and has amazingly sharp eyes. Here is the shot with the offending white dot removed.

Brian, a B&W flower. I am shocked and horrified. I like it though, not so sure about the black in the right bottom corner. That is only my opinion.

Not a black and white flower. Look again, there is just a wash of yellow/orange in the flower. Agreed that the bottom right is debatable.

Brian, I am being increasingly convinced (even impressed) by your low key images.

Brian, I couldn't resist peeking with Show Image: there are 6410 separate colors in the image and the flower hue, at ~30 degrees around the HSB color circle, is pretty much orange. The saturation of the lighter flower parts is ~60% - so more than just a wash, eh? But the brightness is quite low key which could give it a washed-out appearance.

    I like it Brian,

That is; apart from the bright white dot (stuck pixel?) on the leaf (at shadow boundary), which could be easily removed with a spot removal tool or simple clone job.

    Well seen and captured.

Strike again and again. I would never have guessed that many separate colours.

I'd better not mention the ant(?) peeking in to view on the left then

Only just confirmed what it was because your de-spotted version is much bigger.

Maybe i should move this shot to the bug thread? But then bugs can live in the valley of the shadow. I am curious. I took the same shot, loaded it back into gimp, cloned exported and tiny picked it into here. This must mean that my blog scales my shot?
