    Approaching Storm (B&W)

Taken a few months back in late Autumn but only found time to process now. C&C welcome.

Very nice Greg. I have seen a couple of similar threatening cloud formations here and on each occasion, nothing followed.

    Amazing! Looks like a tsunami!

B&W was a good choice; this photo is all about contrast and shadows.

Nice conversation...I love photographing clouds and cry if I cannot take them all before but now with my 12-24mm I'd be a happy camper...this shot rocks! Beautiful!!

Beautifully atmospheric and a great choice to present it in mono. The conversion is really very good as well. My only though is to take the brightness down on the centre lighthouse and the other pure white highlights to leave the light on the headland as the unchallenged focal point. One way or the other, this is good mono.

What a sky. We don't get effects like that here. Very well processed.

I've never seen a sky that looks like that but you sure did a nice job of bringing out all the detail.

    Re: Approaching Storm (B&W)

Thank you everyone for commenting. I was just in the right place at the right time. The clouds rolled very quickly and it was only when I noticed the thin layer drifting in from the north (frame left) and casting a shadow on the white clouds farther out that I decided to take the shot. It seemed like two opposing weather systems had met up.

John, I take your point about the whites. I have actually pulled them down on the two lighthouses but all the other little bits and dots are very small to work worth. Maybe a luminance mask would allow me to get at them.
