Juvenile Black shouldered Kite
Took this shot 12 days ago, just processed this morning.
As these juvenile kites mature, they loose all of the brown/tan colouring and become completely white excepting the black shoulders. The eyes change from brown to light brown, and eventually become bright red!
This bird was having a rest after an intense hunting lesson from his mother.

Re: Juvenile Black shouldered Kite
Nice shot, Chris. A pair nested near here at the very top of a Norfolk pine, and I didn't know what they were. It was interesting watching them fight off the crows day after day.

Thanks Greg. Yes, it's the right time of year for them.

Chris...what a beautiful handsome bird! I like the expression on its face too. The empty space on the right makes this image stand out more...

Re: Juvenile Black shouldered Kite
IMHO it doesn't need all of the RHS but that is a gorgeous capture of a beautiful bird.
