First Plumeria bloom

Our daughter brought back a cutting of a Plumeria from Hawaii three years ago. We had it in a pot for a while, then we had a hard freeze (can you believe that, in Southern California?) and I thought it was a goner.
We continued to water it in the pot last year, but it didn't grow much if at all. A year ago we put it in the ground and talked to it, watered it, talked to it some more and it decided to come back.
This is the first bloom we've seen.

We learn something new every day; I thought "that looks just like a Frangipanni" so I Googled it and found they are indeed one and the same.

You have been rewarded for your patience and care, and it looks like there are many more blossoms about to burst forth.

In my local area, these are quite common. In fact, my wife and I have three of the larger tree version (Plumeria rubra or, obtusa), I think, in our backyard. They are not expected to flower for, perhaps another month.

Like Richard, my first thought is also a frangipani. They are rampant in Asian countries, used mostly as a funeral flower. It has a nice subtle smell...good shot, Alan.
