Great stuff Richad - just goes to show that the older cameras can still do just fine.

    Hi James,

What is it that you have to audit?

    Hi Rick,

Thanks for the feedback. It's not bokeh though ... it's pure reflection

Ummm...it was a little dark in the original as I was lax with settings and it was also a bit blurry.
No 1 shot, (centre bit) cropped and did as much tweaking with levels and curves as it would allow without getting too noisy, shapenened with high pass filter, framed, save.
No 2, ran image through SNS HDR lite, then resized No 1 over the top of the hdr. Reduced opacity somewhat. Selected the outer bit and darkened with burn tool. Framed again, flattened the lot. I still wasn't happy with the lack of contrast in the central image, but everything I tried only led to increased noise.
But it resonates emotionally with me, even though the shot itself is nothing to write home about.

At least the camera body matches the ship - colour coordination is so important in photography!

Rick - priceless expression on Dakota's face. A real goofy grin.

Colin, I see what you mean by the double cheese sandwich, but #3 is one I do like. Nice broken lines of light in the water and the smoke/steam rising gives an almost romantic feel to an industrial site.

Rob - lovely and sharp, with beautiful rich colour tones. I can see that little cam is going to be a favourite.

Antonio: jumping up and down in the forest? Looks watery again....

Richard, that IR has a real toy-town look about it. The house could easily be 6" high.

    Hi Kit,
Very nice subject, also with frame within frame nice composition also.

As you have taken this pictures of yours with full aperture open, it lacks sharpness.

Here is my version. Further compose within 3rd frame. Little sharpned with High Pass filter and brighen.

    Colin,
I work for a telecoms company and I plan out data centre spaces (power, chilling, ups etc),to host just about any kit you name. (currently about 56000 asset items across 10 buildings around the UK).

As always, people have beeen a bit lax keeping the database records of what is where up to date, so I and a colleague are gong into the hals, eyeballing racks and confirming what is supposed to be on the deck actually is.

    James

I try to get to each site once every six months or so, but this set of visits is proving interesting, if

Thanks James - if you have any excess UPS capacity that doesn't appear to exist on the books, feel free to send it my way! (I have a client who could put it to good use!)

PS I only carried my compact camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35) on the trip so #7 and #8 are shot with it.
Compact camera's are taking over the forums it seems

Thanks Ashwin - you have given it a bit of extra zing. It was a slightly problematical situation, as it was taken on a very dull day, under a dark veranda. I kept the aperture wide, as dropping it down resulted in not being able to capture anything good because of motion blur. But is nice for us to have these memories, anyway.
