    Abstract Landscape

Here is my attempt at an abstract landscape, the reason I went abstract is because the image had something I liked but I wasn't happy with the several different post processing attempts I had.

    All work done in Photoshop.

    Anyway, C&C welcome:

    Original:
    Abstract Landscape

I have cropped a tiny bit of the sky and brightened up the dark patch around the top of the middle branch.

    Now, that I like. A lot. A real attention-grabber.

    Beautifully awesome!

[ perhaps, crop sky, just a tad above tree tip, so full attention on landscape. ]

    Re: Abstract Landscape

    Hi Matt,

Now there's a bold direction I don't think I have the imagination to think of for myself!

I agree with Vic's suggestion (having tried it in LyteBox).

For me, I'd like a little more realism - probably counter to the 'abstract' concept though.
If I were to attempt this, I'd try to give the tree a little island of 'horizontal plane' texture on which to grow from. Although that may in turn give merging issues around its edges.

    I like the colours.

    Cheers, Dave

Wonderful image. Makes me think of a strong wind in a scene on an undiscovered planet.

Very abstract and artistic Matt, I can imagine this printed large and making a statement in a gallery anywhere in the world. Well done I have no idea how or what you did to this in processing it but I would like to see how it or they started life.

Thanks for the comments all, and some interesting ideas I will play with.

Here is the original, not a very good image but that was half the challenge :

Amazing and creative Matt, well done. May I suggest toning down the dark triangle (ish) cloud around the top most branch

    Thank you

I was thinking the exact same thing Peter, I thought it was down to PP at first but it is just the way the cloud has blurred.

I'll try and do something about it though.

    Thanks David, Trev.

Trev, I've had a lot of practice with Photoshop and read A LOT of tutorials online... my advice would be to just learn one thing at a time, and then it will all come together.
