On my way to the bedroom when I caught a glimpse of something black moving in a shadow area.
YUK!!!
Out with the spray can [ sorry Brian but the thought of that crawling around the place to beyond thinking ]

Now several days later I got around to photographing it ... cheating of course ... can take my time ... and with 26mm extension at full zoom it is not much of a crop for the full sized image.



Hope it doesn't give you the creeps like I had that night ago .....

Further cheat as it is two shots roughly stacked as layers and soft area erased.

A good result - except from the spider's point of view.

I was brought up with the old adage:

"Let a spider run alive,
and you'll have good luck all your life."

My wife thinks as you do, she nearly put a hole in the wall with her handbag swatting a spider too small to even harm a fly.

Spiders are natural pest control, they will kill and eat any bugs that they find, and will move on when there is no more work to do.

Plus, they don't ask to be paid. ( I'll accept Spiders over a money grubbing exterminator and their toxins any day )

The old saying around here is 'If you want to live and thrive, let the spider stay alive'

Probably based on the fact that they eat a lot of pests.

But we have very few spiders here which pose any threat to humans.

When my wife went vegetarian, for some reason, she stopped killing spiders in the house and started safely transporting them outdoors. Good for her! she knows not to ask me to remove it because I'll tell her to leave it alone and it will go back outside when it's done eating.

I normally photograph such visitors and put a tin oer it and slide a piece of paper/card to trap them and then release them out in the garden.
This was close to bedtime for me and only about six feet from where I hoped to sleep.

Big and black not like this cute one which joined me at the breakfast bar which was transported to 'safety' [?] of the garden .....
