    Surf's Up (Abstract/Fine Art)

More experimenting with the motion blur filter for me, I'm basically using it to try and turn mediocre images into something a bit more appealing.

Nice effort, I would consider cropping as another version.

    It's working!

To me, it makes the whole image the subject, rather than just the surfer. The initial impact when I first viewed the shot was great. Although the surfer is quite small in the frame, the diagonal leading line formed by the wavefront and broken by the surfer, quickly brought my eye right to him. I think the motion blur adds heaps of dynamism.

Each time I look at it, I am reminded of that old Joe Satriani track, "Surfing with the Alien"!

Nice idea, Matt. I like the colours in this image too.

Thanks Chris, I'm not familiar with that track but I'll give it a listen

Hi Matt Those look very nice but I must say that I don't like your watermark just in front of me

Sorry to be late to this thread, but I'm glad I didn't miss it altogether.
A great result, as one who is often at events where there is repetition by different competitors, it is something I think of.
What can I do here to show the same thing differently, this is a great example.

I like the original over the cropped version here, there is a sort of minimalist flavor in the first where the person doesn't have to be the subject but just is part of the scene and is a bit of a pleasant surprise when you find him.
