All Blacks Win World Cup! & a pic of you know who

I'm pretty excited that the All Blacks won the Rugby World Cup!
I don't know quite how to explain to the rest of the world, just how big Rugby & this National team is in NZ.

I tried to explain to a workmate this week, using the example that in Australia you could meet many people who may never have heard of any of the country's National Sporting teams, as they're just not interested in sport.

In NZ I reckon you would be hard pressed to find anyone who hasn't heard of the All Blacks even if they're not into sport.

I encourage everyone to test my theory as it really is a wonderful country to visit.


Oh & as this is a photography forum, here's another pic or 2 of my resident model.

Indeed, congratulations to them. They were clearly the team of the tournament and that performance in the final was the 'complete' team in action. As various commentators have been saying over here, probably/definitely the greatest team ever in Rugby, if not in any code of team sport involving a ball.

But commendations too to the Wallabies. Coming back as they did from what looked like 'game over' at half time is testament to their skill and passion.

But justice would not have been done if Dan Carter had retired without ever winning a World Cup.

And as for photographs. That main one at the top is gorgeous. As I think I wrote some years ago when she was but a little lass, that young woman was made for a camera lens. She's a natural. Mind you, her old lady's pretty good on the other side of the camera!!

Yes Kay, congratulations to your team. I haven't seen the game yet but there is no doubt they are deserved world champs. Nice shots of your model too.

Lovely images of a startling beauty! One minor thing, I am not terrible keen on the horizon intersecting her head but, oh what a lovely head it is and it can be forgiven for just about anything!

Watch it if you get the chance. It was a very special game and both teams did themselves proud with some of the best rugby of the tournament. It was real spectator entertainment.

Yes that last wave did come just a bit too far! We both got wet, I had planned some farmyard shots at spots on the way home from the beach, but the model was soaked & we didn't think to bring a change of clothes.
So that was the end on this trip.

Oops, we've got a problem. 8:30pm (UK) on Sunday evening. The first picture in Kay's group is appearing okay, but then I'm seeing a picture of a jacket (as if from a sales brochure) instead of the other group of pics I was seeing earlier. This is an error at the TinyPics end of things again that will, eventually, be resolved.

EDIT - 8:05 am Monday. I'm seeing the correct pics again.

I almost missed this post because of the title. I'm not that much into sports photography and I generally don't comment on subjects that I don't photograph that often as I probably can't add to much to these conversations.

On the other hand, it's nice to see that you are still working with your daughter, be it under the radar this time around

The two strongest images are the ones at the bottom of the. Close and interesting. The others really don't work for me; they are too far away and the two where she is sitting in the surf would have worked better had you framed them with her more camera right, but event then all the sea and sky don't add that much to the composition.

Manfred it is interesting how a post title can be either misleading, or self explanatory- I for one, will never ever open a post with the word spider in the title.
