Potter on job - C&C are most welcome !!

    Dear All,

Here are some shots of a potter, making clay ports. Kindly share your C&C for the same.

    Thanks.

I like the color versions Tejal I would crop the second image from both sides and try a vertical format as hairy arms don't add to the composition very much.

Tejal really like the first image and I mean really like it. This is just a suggestion, I feel that to really make this a stronger image you need to darken down the background, so that the pool of light that is on the hands, wheel, and pot will now appear brighter as those areas are where the magic is happening. I do not know what post program you are using, I use photoshop so for me it is any easy and quick adjustment. Again really like the subject of the photo.

Tejal...I like both versions, even the black and white. I think you cropped this just right, according to me as you showed the process very well. Maybe Binnur is right too, (as she can see creatively better than me, but I like them the way they are right now..

Tejal, I realize that this is almost an entirely different image from the one you posted but, I kind of like the image cropped this way with an subtle vignette.

Tejal - Richard beat me to it this time. I don't find that the left side of the image adds anything to the composition and can be eliminated. While the pottery wheel and arms are truly part of the work in throwing a clay piece, the piece itself and the potter's hand interacting with the wet clay results in a far more powerful image.

I too find that the colour shot is the most effective approach. You don't really have a lot of colours in the image to begin with.

Both Richard and Manfred seem to prefer a more cropped version centering on the pot and hands. Myself I like the arms and hands coming in from the side reaching into the middle of the frame where end wrapped around the turning pot. That wheel to me is also important as the lines and colours work to bring it all together whereas the cropped images are lacking because it is no longer there.
So a different vision of the same image.

Much nicer crop in #6, I think the B&W makes it a much more appealing image. I wonder how it would look if the finger tips were turned up in color just a bit and everything else left B&W?

    Hi Allan,

I do processing in PS only. Here I have not done much in processing part. But as you have suggested, I will try to darken the BG and I am sure, it will result into a great look of the pic . Thanks a lot for your input.

I cannot believe there is so much possibilities on cropping presentation in just one shot. All of them are good too.

Yes... a little crop could change the whole appearance of the same thing... it is like hair cut or hair style...
