What a beautiful flower. What is it? The leaves and stems remind me of a Hosta, but I've never seen a flower like that on a Hosta.

In terms of the picture, I'm finding that little group of three at the top left, a bit distracting. I don't suggest, however, that you go out and pull them out. A crop to take them out wouldn't work because you'd then be chopping off part of the main group of flowers.

If you remember the yard shot I posted this is a close up of the flowers on the tree/bush. I am afraid I don't know the name but now I have a reason to find it.

Ah hah, so at least we know it's NOT a Hosta. But it would be nice to know what it is. As I wrote above, I think the flower is beautiful. So delicate looking. And in such abundance.

The trees are just coming into bloom so there may be more shots to come.

This is one of approximately 545 species of Ixora. I have not found an exhaustive list of species so for now this is as good as it gets.

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is about a genus of flowering plants in the Rubiaceae family. For the Copeland album, see Ixora (album).

Ixora is a genus of flowering plants in the Rubiaceae family. It is the only genus in the tribe Ixoreae. It consists of tropical evergreen trees and shrubs and holds around 545 species.[1] Though native to the tropical and subtropical areas throughout the world, its centre of diversity is in Tropical Asia. Ixora also grows commonly in subtropical climates in the United States, such as Florida where it is commonly known as West Indian Jasmine. Other common names include viruchi, rangan, kheme, ponna, chann tanea, techi, pan, santan, jarum-jarum, jungle flame, jungle geranium among others. The plants possess leathery leaves, ranging from 3 to 6 inches in length, and produce large clusters of tiny flowers in the summer. Members of Ixora prefer acidic soil, and are suitable choices for bonsai. It is also a popular choice for hedges in parts of South East Asia. In tropical climates they flower year round and are commonly used in Hindu worship, as well as in ayurveda and Indian folk medicine.
