Wordsworth Country

This is Grasmere near to the village of the same name where Wordsworth lived in his "Dove Cottage". Sadly, given the very short break in the weather, I didn't have much time to "..wander lonely as a cloud...". The area is so nice that I really must find the opportunity to do just that.

Nice efforts, those sheep look like rocks, needs a bit of emphasis; red markings don't even help attract the eye towards them. Really like the sky treatment on the second and third.

Please don't be offended, but can I ask if those skies are what was there when the shutter clicked?

Perhaps I'm just being misled by my childhood memories of that area and the weather more typical of there

Basically OK but has a darkening vignette been applied? Some people like that sort of effect, but I'm not one of them.

Another beautiful places post....My superlatives are already almost exhausted just commenting...what is the chance of me shutting up ? Nil. Well! I love the treatment you did in #1, and the colour of #2. Although #3 is a nice place too, I do not like that greyish area in the middle...I don't know why...maybe it reminds me of when I am doing pp of my mediocre shots that will be like I tried too hard to lessen the overexposure on that bit. Looking at it closely on lytebox, it is smooth so I can't find anything wrong with that area really...just thinking out loud...

We visited Grasmere some years ago and I remember it as a lovely little village. I don't have any photos like that though.

Dave, I would never take offence. No, this is one of those rare moment when the Lakes are blessed with light. An exaggeration of course but I know what you mean. The most beautiful place imaginable in sunshine but it can be thoroughly wet and miserable in the rain - as it was for the most of the day.

Nandakumar, he had the advantage of the place when I was only overrun by a cloud of golden daffodils. Today, it is more likely to be overrun by a crowd of not so golden tourists. The price of fame.

Izzie, I think that is just a flurry of wind on the water.

Geoff, yes some darkening of he corners has taken place. I find that it can sometimes help where there isn't a strong point of focus.

It's one of our favourite destinations Dave and we are lucky enough to be only an hours drive away.

Lovely images and I did rally like some of his poetry when studying English Literature back in my school days!
