    Mountains of Wicklow at Dusk

Returning as night fell on high ground last Monday from a superb afternoon's photography shoot, to capture Autumn at its peak, I (like Matt) stopped the car and ran off a few including these two.

    (Best viewed in Lightbox.)

View from above Lough Tay, looking west towards Sally Gap.

View from same location looking south-east.

Two very fine images. Calmness and serenity captured in pictures.

Beautiful pics and the composition along with all the basics such as exposure ,tones and w/b balance are done very well. These are terrific wall pieces.

Mountains...dusk...Ireland... How can we not want to look, and well worth it. Love them both. Personally, I'd probably remove that remote antenna to keep the shot as natural as possible, but it's a trifling consideration relative to stunning impact of the rest.

Two gorgeous images... At this moment the 2nd is my favourite for the beautiful muted colours, reflections and dreamy feel.

Both are lovely images. I can see why you stopped. This type of scene I could sit and enjoy for hours on end.

    Hey...I haven't commented yet...

This is such a beautiful set of shots, Neville. What a nice place to sit down and have a picnic! I love the colours of #1, the way the clouds weave its way slowly in, punctuated by the mists. I love the light on the foreground and that little pocket of clearing with the houses...like a fairy tale kind of place...

(Now, if I look hard will I see some leprechauns amongst between those trees?? )

Thanks Izzie. The entire valley here is in fact an estate owned by an Irish family who were founders of a brewery noted best for a well known Irish alcaholic beverage beginning with the letter 'G'. Perhaps black and white would have been more appropriate.

I saw no leprechauns. Perhaps the Druids banished them at Halloween.

I'm moving to Eire. Beautiful shots. I particularly like the "Horizon Pool" effect produced by your viewpoint of the lake.

Yes Izzie. Arthur Guinness founded the famous St.James's Gate brewery in 1759. The rest is history.

This is a link to my website and in particular to a panoramic view of the entire area including all of Lough Tay and Luggala, the hill behind the lake. This panoramic image, from 11 years ago, is made from 7 separate exposures using a Canon 300d (Rebel) merged digitally.

Not my finest moment as regards composition but I thought some might like to see more clearly in daylight what the location is really like.

Many thanks also to David and John for comments.

And Dave, I'll join you for that pint.

Thanks again Binnur. The processing was problematic on both of these but I think I have got the best out of them.
