Re: Some yellow in shade
Nice capture, I love Frangipanis. I would have liked to have seen the whole of the second flower in the frame though.

We call them plumeria.
Sorry about the lack of the second flower.

Nice image of the flower, Alan. I think you need to pay a little more attention to the background, though. Try shooting an angle that doesn't include a bright background.

Lovely shot with a ton of potential and lots of difficulties.
You did a great job on he purples and yellows.
As mentioned by others the background yellow flower needs work.
I am never absolutely sure hen shooting in shadows just what to leave bright and what to take down a notch or two. I would consider lessening the brightness of the leaf behind the main flower?

Re: Some yellow in shade
As Greg said, a pity about the background bright spots; but you might be able to tone them down a little.
I spend so much time concentrating on backgrounds, often using a Difflector or part of my body to create ideal brightness levels; but far too often I also miss something obvious which I only see when I look on my computer screen.

Re: Some yellow in shade
Wonderful photo. Would you mind giving a summary of what you did post-processing?

Re: Some yellow in shade
Kevin - I don't have very sophisticated post-processing software so I didn't do very much. Looking at the original I think all I did was play with the exposure some, sharpening and noise reduction.
I'm pretty happy with the way this lens is working on my Nex-7. It's a Nikon Micro Nikkor 55mm f2.8 I picked up on the Shop Goodwill dot come site a couple weeks ago. Turned out to be a really nice, clean lens.

Re: Some yellow in shade
Thanks for all the nice comments folks.
I didn't worry about the back ground since there's not much I can do about it out in our back yard. I was more worried about getting the focus correct as I'm manually focusing with this camera/lens combo.
Maybe it'd help if I changed the focus peaking color to RED instead of the YELLOW I have selected now....
