A Brief Encounter with an Amphibian

A wet day today as I went to put out the trash. There was a little frog on the trash can lid, perhaps enjoying the rain while waiting for food to pass by. Dilemma, dilemma, go inside and get the tripod, put the macro lens on the DSLR, make sure the DSLR has some charge in the battery, etc., y'all know the routine . . or just whip out the Galaxy SII and point & shoot?

Not the finest of shots either one, the cam focused on the back leg in shot 1. It focused better in shot 2.

Both edited in FastStone Viewer, slightly lower gamma and slightly increased saturation. Two-stage sharpening a la CiC, obvious halos in shot 1

Nice little frog, 1-1/2 to 2" long. Anybody know what kind it is?

Looks like it's a squirrel tree-frog (hyla sqirrella) as I implied innocently in the OP:

It may have taken up temporary residence in a nearby tiny pool created under the air conditioner condensation drain.

I say "temporary" because our warm spell is about over . .

My granddaughter will love you for this shot! She loves frogs and always looking for one everywhere. She is 2.8 years of age now, I wait till she gets into her science class with frogs and chloroform...
