I think it is interesting comment on contemporary society. (Just this morning I heard about a report that claims teenagers suffer from anxiety and depression if they can't check social media every few minutes. Apparently they have a fear of missing out or being excluded from the loop.)

I am also wondering about the wall on the left.

Griddi - I'm thinking the same thing as Greg. The wall on the left does not add anything to the composition, so why is it there?

It seems to me we might have had this chat before.

Great picture. I agree with Manfred. There is no place for the wall in this picture, it is the person and the shoe racks behind him that are important.

Greg....thank you for looking and comment.....I agree with you about teenagers checking out social media.......it is seldom, one only has to sit in a train / tram, and see how many playing around with their mobiles phones, as soon as they sit down :rolleyes..

I was not so sure about the wall at the left, so leave it at that....but now I am sure........

Manfred....I was not so sure about the wall, although I was thinking about it....perhaps a bit afraid to made the photo to small....the same like with this image, should I leave the Christmas tree there or not ?

One can always find a corner.....

But of course the photo looks better without the wall.......but the photo with the Tree too ?

Thank you Dicky.......no the wall leads to the entrance of David Jones store, which is my favorite * Money Pitt * store, because of this I noticed the subject of the image ......

Well Griddi, that depends what you think the subject is, or whether the Christmas tree adds anything useful to the context of the image.

My feeling is that it does not, because the first image, where we are unaware of the tree 'says' enough - even you decided that by posting it first.

Added to which it was apparently shot on the 5th November, so is hardly what this person was doing on their Christmas.

Of the two shots, even if you crop off the wall and tree in the second, I think you chose the best image to display (first) in this thread - and gave it a good title.

Agree with what Dave said above...and if I might add, your image is black and white, hence we really cannot recognize that shape as a Christmas tree per se...Oh! store front and Christmas! but not everyone thinks that way no matter what the stores shows. I know I don't...what about others? We haven't gone to my husband's birthday yet this month and of course Thanksgiving and day after the big Black Friday Sale (pretty much your day after Christmas sale). I'll think of Christmas after Thanksgiving and that big turkey for Thanksgiving better not have an appearance at my Christmas table...in the meantime, it will be nicer if you remove that Christmas tree and that side of the other wall of the first image.

+1 to Dave's comments and anyone who chose to remove that wall and the Chrissy tree...

    Hi Dave,

Thank you for your comments.....very helpful, and I agree completely that the Christmas Tree had no meaning, as still to early for the Christmas season......

I am still a bit unsure when to crop or not to crop, and because of this I only posted the photo with the X-Mas tree, sort of a example like to crop or not to crop ?
The X-Mas tree was sort only of a * added on * when I shoot the photo, as I was interested in the person with the computer.........

I like the first photo I posted more too, if not for anything else, but for the fact, that the keyboard of the computer is on display........

But now, because of your comments, ( Manfreds too ) I have learned a bit more again, I will look in future more critically at my images, and, if possible, if not beforehand at the time I shoot the photo, to remove ( crop ) the things which are not helpful for the main subject/theme of the image..........

Dave....thanks again.....you have open my eyes a bit more........

    Greetings,
    Griddi.....

    Hi Izzie

See my reply to Dave.....re Christmas Tree photo etc........

I agree with you, that all these X-Mas decorations in the shops, and before the shops a way to early, and it gives me not a Christmas feeling........it is all about money.....I mean.... as soon Christmas is over ,then the shops are full of Valentine buying stuff, following straight away with the Easter stuff....and so it goes all year round ..........

And YES the first photo looks better with the wall removed.......

One can always find a corner.....
