Kim, it's not difficult. The figure s cut fro one image and layered onto another and then the opacity is reduced to taste. The only thing you have to watch is the direction of light in both images. e.g. flipping the figure and placing it on the RHS would not have looked right.

Given that this is an excellent example of the technique in practice, John, I wonder if you'd be willing to expand on the above and make this something like a step-by-step tutorial. I'm sure a lot of people would like that and find it useful. For example, you write that the figure is cut from one image and layered into another. I'm sure a lot of people are asking - 'How do you do that?'

Richard, 'Caesar' was in the gift shop behind the counter. St Davids Cathedral is the first cathedral in which I have so far at least, had to purchase a licence to take photographs. Having said that however, it didn't cost that much and it was worth it.
