    Wifes Orchid

She wanted an image to show her co workers so I did a hurried back drop in the breezy front yard and this is the result.

Some sort of Odontoglossum hybrid. I love the whole alliance. A nice shot consider a rush job.

Thanks Jim, It was also the first time I used a off camera flash.

I don't know much about the flowers though I do like them. My horticultural endeavors are mostly Bonsai.

For a harried shot, this is quite good Randy...think of how much you can do if you decided to do a serious shot of this...William (chauncey) will be jealous! Seriously.

I want to set up a little studio so I can play with this type of thing and not have to take it down.

The set up was simple a 4foot square black Walmart blanket Clamped to a target stand( I made years ago out of pvc pipe)for a backdrop taped to the top of sawhorses with a 1"X12 board about 24" in front of the blanket to put the flower pot.
All I used for light was a Metz 52 flash with a RPS studio strap on bell shaped soft box.
The hard part was waiting for a cloudy day to do the set up. (This is outside).

Sorry Mark, I know it was hurried and all, but, when I click on it and it goes to full size in whatever that viewer is, it just doesn't look focused to me. I really like the colors and the way the back ground kicks it out, but it just isn't nice to look at when I click it.
I don't know if it's because it looks flat or what, but it doesn't 'pop' the way it should IMO.

I took the liberty of playing with it with my limited skills and software such as they are.

The focus is a little soft. I was focusing manually in magnified live view but I was fighting a breeze that day. Every time I went for the shutter button that breeze would come up.
