I took this late last year but finally processed it today. I had a devil of a time trying to bring detail out in the clouds while keeping the noise down. C&C welcome.

I like it, though wonder whether you have straightened the mast - would it not have been bending in the wind ?? Interested too about your choice to go B&W
I love the clouds, but with the mast as an image it doesn't work for me.
You did well processing the clouds, nice image.
Dave
Hi Kaye, the yacht was in drydock having its hull scraped. Otherwise it would have been bobbing about like a cork. I converted to b&w because the dark clouds are a steely blue colour and the greys slight variations of that. To bring out the detail I needed to boost the contrast, but that made the blues turn a garish colour. That doesn't happen with black and white.
I love clouds, but this one was very threatening...did you have to run away to shelter after shooting this one? I agree with you about the mast showing the sense of scale...
Like that Greg. Needs lightbox to fully appreciate it. Given the impending storm, a bit of noise might even have been appropriate.
Liked it
Greg....I like it too, but must confess.....I scrolled, and scrolled down the image hoping to find the boat, or at least some part of it ......but perhaps this would not have been possible anyway as the boat , because of the storm, would have moved to much ?
Griddi......
Hi Griddi, the yacht wasn't in the water. It was in drydock to have the hull scraped. If I had tried to include a portion of the vessel, you would have seen the ugly fence surrounding it.
I like this image. The clouds obviously suggest an impending storm. The mast creates a tension... to me it creates a connection, almost a story connecting the viewer and the situation. I have sailed extensively and if I was on the boat at sea, looking at that scene I would be heading for shelter or battening down the hatches...
