That image looks a lot like my bird. I'm the first one to admit that I know practically nothing about birds. I looked up several photos of juvenal red-tailed and broad-shouldered hawks and in most cases I find it difficult to see the difference. I based my opinion that it is a red-tailed on one reference that indicated that the broad-shouldered hawk was "a crow sized bird". The bird in my photo is much bigger than a crow. The upper part of the breast of the red-tailed also seems to me to be brighter white but there seems to be enough variation that I don't know if that is significant.
