    Gloomy Sunrise (re-worked)

After a few comments on how the image wasn't really 'gloomy' I decided as I'm bored (it feels like its been raining forever), to try and re-work the image with a different approach to the post-processing.

    C&C welcome...

That looks like two different dimensions, not sure I'd want to visit the other side. Nicely processed.

I didn't see the first version, Matt (been busy last few days), but I'd describe this more as creepy than gloomy. The trees are so dark they look like entities. IMO you've run into a style conflict here. The well saturated green makes it feel fresh in spite of the gloomy sky and creepy trees. When I think of gloomy I think of near-monochrome lighting. Food for thought at any rate...

I feel the first one is just bit too bright to be considered gloomy, Matt. If it were mine, I would be toning down the bright green in the foreground and trying to darken the clouds and bring out a bit of detail up there.

The 2nd one brings Dr Who to mind.

These just don't seem to truly be you...

In jest from someone who is searching for a style, and an admirer of your having found a definite style which works so beautifully.

I like the second picture. If it's a problem of not living up to the name, change the name to something else (Morning Mist...?).

Hi Matt I find the first image better and I agree with Doug about changing the title as the image doesn't look gloomy. I would try cropping the image from the bottom . IMO the yellow leaves in the FG look distracting and make the composition crowded.
