    Whistling Kites

From yesterday, by the ocean. Evans Head, a popular destination for fisherfolk and boaters alike, is also home to a variety of shorebirds. Among them are Whistling Kites and Ospreys. Although I was not able to capture any Ospreys yesterday, I did catch a few shots of Whistling Kites. From what I could gather, it was a family of two adults and one juvenile.

The juvenile is perched in the tree in #3, patiently waiting for the parents to return.

Excelent job, Chris...I like both of them...and the juvenile one looks a bit cold. Was it windy that day over there when you shoot this ones? 'Wish I can get a good BIF....one day...

Thank you, John, David, Nandakumar, and Izzie.

Yes, Izzie, It was windy, though not cold. It always seems to be windy on the coast. The young birds tend to have a lot of very light and fluffy feathers on their chest. I suppose when the wind blows it can make them look cold. Thanks again.

Nicely done Chris. I like the way you have caught the detail on the bird's underside in no.2. Excellent.

Nice set. The first one is really excellent. Trying some different crops might be worthwhile. Well Captured.

We're in Brisbane right now so haven't seen anything in the way of critters yet other than those darned ibis. Headed down the coast tomorrow.

Wow, Dan! And you're coming down the coast tomorrow! Will you be venturing as far as Byron Bay?
