The view from my front door

The other week, the setting sun broke through the clouds after a rainstorm. I have posted scenes with this view before. I never tire of the changes - by the season, by the day, by the hour, by the minute, that nature provides.

Please enjoy this view with me,
    but also provide some C&C.

I just wonder if there is a fraction too much sky there? Maybe a very slight crop from the top and left side?

Otherwise, everything looks excellent to me.

    Hi John, thank you.

I was running around like a fool on the knob trying to take as many pictures as I could. It was all pure magic for about 5 minutes at best.

Nice view Marie, I would be inclined to take a little more off the top though. very nice anyway.

I'd try a crop on the right side between the fourth and fifth fence posts, just to see what it looks like, with the sky cropped like in the second iteration.
That's what I like about digital, you can try sooooo many different things and still go back to where you started.

I'm really glad that you were able to capture the moment. Views like those are too few and hard to come by.

    Thanks for posting!

    Hi, Doug,

I photographed this scene in all kinds of weather, and the lighting in this case, enchanted me. You are right about hard to come by!

a picture is worth a thousand words: flipped with a different crop. I just felt the big tree made a good focal point. If you looked out your front door using a mirror it would still be your view.

    Hi, Brian,

I like what you have done. It follows traditional western reading lines - drawing the leading line from left to right.

    Thanks, Binnur.

What I like about my original is that it shows that the clouds also reflected the light - and turned them darker blues, purples and reds in there, I loved that. I can put some sentiment at the top if I choose, which I will - make a card that speaks of renewal - of hope and promise after the storm.

Brian's cropped and flipped version speaks to the image itself, and I can appreciate that. It is nice to see someone elses perspective.

    Thank you for your comment.

It is, as you put it to bnnrcn an effort to show the shot in a traditional way. That doesn't (at least to me) mean it is better, just a different take. I am curious how it will end up with the sentiment you may add.

Lovely view indeed. One of the great things about photography is that we learn to see so many subtle changes in lighting etc. Even everyday scenes look different each time. Nice shot.
