    Gibbs Farm

A few weeks ago my family visited Alan Gibbs farm which has some huge sculptures dominating the landscape and the odd animal as well. Well worth the visit. Here are a few shots but I must go back with better lighting rather than the flat overcast day I had. It is only open to the public 1 day every month and you need to book a few months in advance.

No idea why I thought of Donald when taking the above photo.

Wow, amazing place. Good shots too. I followed the link that you posted, and noticed that one of the pieces on display is a Giraffe. It that the one in your photo or, is that a real Giraffe?

Hi Chris, it is a real Giraffe. The sculptured Giraffe was a few 100 metres away. My daughter managed to get a shot that included both but it just looks like another giraffe in the distance. It certainly is an amazing place.

I like the first and third, Paul. Dunno about the giraffe, though. I was kinda expecting to see a little dog some where.

Thanks Greg - it was a very ordinary day for for photography but the place was fascinating and the scale of some of the sculptures hard to portray.

Maybe all the dogs got drowned chasing his aquadski into the water. The was a building where you could peer through the windows and see a variety of his amphibious vehicles.

What a fabulous place. Fields of photo opps. I think the cloud has really helped the first one and that huge red "trumpet" is a ripper.
I'll be over there next February so will have to see if I can make a booking.

I have just checked the web site (link at top) and they look as if they are booked out until the middle of next year. If you can find someone with a booking it is worth seeing if you can tag along.

It is certainly an amazing place but getting a booking is very difficult. There is no payment and originally it was for invited guests only - a bit like my place but there is nothing much to see here as unfortunately I do not have millions to spend on it.

Since this is a difficult place to book for a day trip, I think you should show us more of what you got while there. I'll (we'll) be happy with that. All good shots...I would have used my UWA for this place as the structures are all huge!

It must be a wonderful place to visit....yet , i am confused about the first image; is that object made of glass? It looks like a drawing, if that was their intention.....

Thanks for the comments and yes it is an amazing place and I think the visitors should be very grateful we get the opportunity to go there. It is (at this time) a completely noncommercial activity by a wealthy patron of the arts. I will add more photographs as I get to do them.

The last two images are just terrific! Great lines, color and scale. I think you actually had ideal lighting conditions for those two images, especially the last one.

All of the images are so nice that people will surely want to individually refer to them. I recommend that you edit your posts to number each of the images in the thread.

Thanks Mike and your wish (for numbers) is my command - within reason.

Dave we only get 6 hours to wander around but it is so interesting I would love to camp there for several days.

I can see a resemblence with the foreground character in #1 and I gather they both originate from the same country

I would like to make it absolutely clear it was a geographic reminder not genetic although the leather would make a good sporran and the hair is just the right colour for one of those ginger wigs you sometimes see.
