    Smoke rising

    I also took this image late yesterday in low light at about 140mm shooting from the highway and across a field so its a little noisy.

    Dave - this is a very nice image.

    While I see the noise, I find that the image is quite soft as well. Can I assume that you were hand-holding this shot? These types of shooting conditions is where shooting from a sturdy trip really works wonders. That way you can cut down the ISO to cut down on the noise as well as eliminate the camera shake.

    You assumption is correct Manfred. I couldn't set up a tripod because I was on the side of a highway so I tried wrapping my arms around a hydro pole to steady the camera. The house was about 300 yards away.
