More than hunting Elk
I went on my first Elk hunt recently. We camped for a week in the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon. Even though the Elk hunting wasn't that great, the landscape hunting was awesome. This is just one scene I came across while driving the forest service roads during our hunt. The yellow trees are Tamarack, which look like evergreens but lose their needles in the fall/winter. The peek color was a couple of weeks earlier, but, they're still amazing in contrast to their evergreen cousins. This scene just screamed "take a picture of me". So, I did.

VEry colourful shot, Brian...Was it a long hike to reach this place? I guess I am more concern about how you brought your week's food supplies if no elk showed up...

This is the kind of scene that always looks very appealing when you're at it but is very difficult to find a composition that works really effectively in a photo. You nailed it! The stumps and fallen trees in the lower left area seem to anchor the image for me.
