    One for Donald....

....that is, if I have the right species!

Thought I'd try another conversion. Not sure if I like the composition.

    One for Donald....

    CC always welcome.

Ach, it fair maks ma hert sing, ye ken. Och aye!! (Think of Scotty from Star Trek)

Thanks Chris. Truth be told, I don't know my thistle species either.

Either that's great timing, or you've got a spouse/partner/friend just out of shot on the right, blowing as hard as they can!

The problem for me, Chris, is that fairly large out of focus area in the bottom right corner which I find distracting.

I wonder about a crop from the bottom and left side to reduce that area a little and concentrate more on the main subject?

Good use of the diagonal, Chris, with immature buds on the lower end and the mature at the top end. I wonder if it might look better with a horizontal flip, given that we read left to right? ie the wind might appear to blowing the seeds away more.

Very interesting, Chris...I've always thought of your shots as birdies and BIFs. This is different.

Thanks Izzie. Yes, I'm beginning to try a few different things. I started by trying a B&W conversion on a shot of a horse, just a few days ago. The other day I was walking along that line of low bushes I had mentioned in the post that has the Superb Fairy Wren in it, and surprise, surprise - no birds. Through a gap in the bushes, I saw the thistle. I thought it might make a good subject for B&W conversion.

I suppose I'm just trying to expand my experience by trying things that I have not tried before.

    Thanks again, Izzie.

Thanks for taking a look, Nandakumar, John, Donald, Mark, Geoff, and Greg. I appreciate your comments and feedback.

Geoff, good catch re the wasted/useless space. I'll try a crop. I'm sure it will be an improvement.

Hi Greg, yes, a good idea to flip it horizontally. I'll likely combine your suggestion with Geoff's and see what we come up with.

    Thanks again.

I may never reveal the truth about that.
