Insects and things.

With summer just a week away I thought I would wander round the island. A local fire-break trail looks lush and green but go into the bush and it is tinder dry and full of fuel.


The grass trees need fire; these have grown in the last year after fire ripped through here.


Not all of the flower stems can decide which way to go.

Scarlet Jezebel


On the beach an army of soldier crabs was in full retreat.


Sand wasps were digging burrows and storing their prey.




Cicadas are starting to appear, I will search every night for one about to hatch, perhaps this year i will be lucky.


The Glasshouse mountains. Two heads can be seen looking out to sea, the mother is to the left giving birth (you can see her baby bump). She has been for thousands of years, but the local Aboriginals point out it takes a long time to give birth to a mountain.

Good old Bribie Island. Some very nice shots here. I particularly like the first dragonfly and the butterfly and that cicada is a great macro-ish image. Nice work.
