    Dawn, Docks & Dogs

The sun has finally shown its face again, so I headed down to the beach... not much going on but managed to get these two shots and applied some artistic licence to them.

Nice set, both have their merits, I think the dog appears as a speck so should be either cloned out or image should be cropped. Although small in size; the human figure is easily recognized and works well in the full sized composition. The other image stands on its own, a lot of foreground that doesn't contribute much to the composition, however the slanting tonal change prevents too much boredom. However a crop just below the tonal change would work just as well.

Really nice. Especially like the first one because of the added interest of the walker and his dog.

both nice Matt, I feel that the dog gives the guy? a reason to be in the center of the image. I don't need to see the details of the dog to know what is going on.

I would zap the dog. It is too far away from its owner and too indistinct so just adds distraction.

Or alternatively; 'move it' closer to the owner so they are both walking towards the sun. There are a few faint trails in the sky which I would clone out.

The second image works fine as it is now.

No, this time I am going against you, Geoff. Sorry..I like that shot very much...it is a nice scene and the human/dog element add to the composition.
