Testing IS now, I think this should be sharper since it is only two stops slower but in reality I can't imagine going less than 1/30 without a tripod. The dof shows it should be in focus and the registration point was aimed close to #2.



This lens My others were just stuck on the camera and worked and with this I've been calibrating it, trying to work AF which for some reason only works close up or has to be on AI servo or all registration points in use and still manages to be out of focus. I now know it does work fine with IS on on a tripod and the blur was caused by my turning the focus ring too far. It is certainly a challenging lens but it is brilliant with CA and very sharp at most focal lengths and apertures with very good flare control and a bonus with rounded diaphragm blades giving good bokeh.
The build quality is solid and it is substantial so I suppose I had better just get on with it and take some pics.

Hi Steve,

Just a couple of things to keep in mind ...

1. IS isn't a "written guarantee" that you can shoot 3 or 4 stops slower and get away with it ... it just increases your chances of getting away with a slower shutterspeed, and

2. IS doesn't do anything for subject motion - so if the hand that's holding the phone has a bit of movement then that movement will still show in the shot.
