Looks like you are starting to play around with light painting?

If light painting includes holding a flashlight in various ways to adjust the shadows then yes I am?

It certainly does, well done - good idea to get the hang of it indoors before (possibly) venturing out side.

It seems to me that you've found something to do when the sun goes down. If it were my shot, I might hit the roof with a bit more light. It seems to be so dark that it is absorbing a fair bit of the light that you are shining onto it.

Unless you are creating a 'horror movie still' I think you need some sort of 'fill flash' which my editor nicely gives me and makes up for poor lighting. That there is nothing in the background is not important but revealed itself when I used the tool twice at maximum strength. But this is just one application of the tool.

'The House of the Risen Moon'. way out of my comfort zone.

    edit
On second thoughts perhaps I should have used the original and duplicate[adjusted] layers to erase the rather hot front steps of the house. Try as I have I do not seem to be able to adjust the brightness of my monitor so it may not be quite to 'hot' on your monitor.

Gotchya, it was shot outdoors. Living on the side of a sleeping volcano means we have quite a few fair sized boulders in our yard. I plunked the house on one of them, rearranged the moss and stuff and had some fun.

There is an almost full moon tonight and if the rain and clouds cooperate I'll have another go at it.

Actually the house is set on a boulder and there is a 'cliff' that if it was lit better could have shown up. I was going for the haunted house look.
