    Emperor Swallowtail

I have been watching this emperor swallowtail caterpillar living in our lemon tree for a while now. It's happily munching away at the leaves and growing at an impressive rate. In these two shots it's showing off its impressive little defence mechanism which is also accompanied by a very unfomfortable smell by the way.

Good shots and a very nice 'expression' on its face in the second image.

Good work, Toby. The 2nd is a beauty. Good pose on the caterpillar and I like the gradient at teh bottom of frame, although I guess it is possibly a blurred branch in the background. But the green, red and blue-magenta combine in a pleasing pallet.
